BIG BEE HIVE – 6.10 Uttoxeter
BIG BEE HIVE is a three-time winner over fences, and produced his best effort to date over hurdles when resuming winning ways in this sphere at Southwell earlier this month.
He had sort of lost his way over fences, but wasted no time returning to form off a lower hurdles mark, looming up out wide on the home turn and having something in hand at the line.
This looks a deeper race, but a subsequent 5lb rise leaves him fairly treated, and a similar performance will see him be very competitive once more.
WELL EDUCATED – 6.28 Hexham
WELL EDUCATED won back-to-back handicaps around this time last year, including one over course and distance, and he again signalled he’s ready to strike when runner-up back at this venue last month.
He went like the best horse at the weights that day, only to be picked off in the final 100 yards by one who came from further back. His jockey will likely try hold on to him for longer this time and he’s well worth another chance to prove this mark a lenient one.
HINITSA BAY – 6.50 Leicester
HINITSA BAY showed improved form on his handicap debut when runner-up over a mile at Yarmouth two starts back, keeping up the gallop well given how enthusiastic he was early on, and he pulled well clear of the remainder.
ittedly, he wasn’t in the same form over seven furlongs at the same course last time, but he again did too much too soon, and he remains a horse to be interested in, especially now moving down into classified company under a different jockey. He looks the one to beat at these weights in a weak race.
SUNNY CORNER - 3.23 Salisbury (NAP)
The trip is a slight concern for SUNNY CORNER who has yet to race over this far but he wasn't stopping when winning here over a mile a year ago nor when following up over the same trip at Newbury. He's rated just 3 lb higher than for the latter win and has shaped satisfactorily on both runs this year. He's also reunited with Rossa Ryan who was on board for those two summer successes, the only two occasions on which he's ridden Sunny Corner.
QUEEN'S PALACE - 4.35 Doncaster
Rated just 45, QUEEN'S PALACE has to race from out of the weights but may be able to overcome that negative and build on the promise of her handicap debut at Ripon; that form has worked out well for the grade with the in-form winner placed next time and the second and fifth winning. Queen's Palace was doing her best work at the end of the six furlongs suggesting a step back up to this trip would suit; a view backed up by her pedigree which has plenty of stamina on the distaff side.
CARGIN BHUI - 6.15 Hamilton
It's been a fairly quiet couple of months for David and Nicola Barron and CARGIN BHUI himself. A runner in February, March and April - when tried in both blinkers and cheekpieces for the first time - he returned to action just over a week ago and ran well enough up to a point. Entitled to come on for that, Cargin Bhui returns to the scene of one of his better performances having gone close over C&D 12 months ago off a 5 lb higher mark and, despite coming with obvious risks, this relatively lightly raced sort is worth chancing at the likely odds.
